UI A Day, is a project I started to practice my UI skills, learn new UI tricks, and most importantly fix existing bad UI. Every day I would hone my skills by watching educational videos, coming up with an idea for designing a new interface for practice, or I would look at my everyday life to find bad User Interfaces that I could fix.
PADI is the most recognized dive training organization in the world and I thought there was a lot of accessibility issues with their app. I ran their colors through a WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guideline) color contrast test and found that almost none of the color contrasts met WCAG standards. The icons they used weren't centered within the buttons and didn't reflect the text they were suppose to represent. Furthermore, the text was hard to read and none of the colors used drew the users attention.
Changes I made included:
In addition I added another booking screen as I thought it was a useful feature for booking dives (there was no such feature on the original app).
I made a few changes to the H&M main page because I thought the original had too much unnecessary information on the front page and lacked visually eye catching content. To address this I added a hamburger menu that would hold the less relevant tabs, I added a text animation for the sale to make it more eye catching, and I also thought that the cover image should be fully visible above the fold so I replaced the image with a more appropriate fit. Furthermore, I thought the search bar felt out of place on the original website so I moved it to the top navigation bar.
This is an alarm app I designed to remind you what you need to do for the day.
